Classic L-Shaped Kitchen Renovation | Mirfield | More Kitchens
Published: 24 March 2025
Background
Our client first discovered More Kitchens online and later visited our Mirfield concession showroom to explore ideas for her kitchen renovation. Looking for a full design and installation service, she was keen to work with a company that could manage the entire project from concept to completion.
With a very dated kitchen featuring old built-in cupboards and limited storage, the client was ready for a complete transformation. Her vision was to create a relaxing, practical space with warm, earthy tones that matched a set of fabric samples she loved. As the kitchen was located in a first-floor flat, the project required careful planning to ensure maximum impact without compromising on style or functionality.
Objective
The main goal was to modernise the existing kitchen while improving usability and creating a timeless, warm-toned design that was easy to maintain. Extra storage was a key requirement, and the overall space needed to feel inviting enough to entertain guests when needed. The client was clear from the start—no greys, only a warm, earthy colour palette, with quartz worktops and a classic, elegant finish.
Kitchen Design
Senior Designer Julie worked closely with the client over the course of nearly a year to bring her vision to life. Through ongoing collaboration, the design evolved. Colours were reviewed a couple of times, and the materials were chosen with great care to reflect the client’s personal taste and lifestyle needs.

The final design featured Solent Smooth Shaker units in Kashmir, paired with brushed nickel knobs for a subtle yet sophisticated classic look. French White Quartz worktops were selected not only for their beauty but also for their practicality, enabling the inclusion of a white ceramic undermount sink—a detail the client particularly loved.

To further enhance the classic feel, Old English Fog brick tiles were chosen for the splashback area, introducing gentle muted tones and texture. The flooring—originally considered as a wood effect—was eventually confirmed as Fossil Limestone LVT, offering a light, fresh finish that brightened the entire room.

The layout remained an L-shape to suit the space, with significant upgrades: a large, outdated meter unit was removed, while the existing built-in cupboard was revamped internally and given new doors to match the rest of the kitchen. The client is currently seeking a small bench-style dining set to complete the space.

Kitchen Installation
Project Manager Rob oversaw the full works, ensuring a smooth experience from start to finish. Multi-Skilled Kitchen Fitter Craig carried out the transformation with his trademark precision, handling everything from removals to fitting with great attention to detail.
The comprehensive installation included electrics, plastering, plumbing, radiator installation, skirting boards, new lighting, LVT flooring, and the fitting of a brand-new internal door. As always, Craig’s workmanship and commitment to cleanliness were praised throughout the project.

Project Outcome
The result is a beautifully modernised kitchen that perfectly reflects the client’s vision. Warm, earthy tones, practical quartz surfaces, and carefully chosen materials combined to create a relaxing and refined space that’s easy to maintain and a joy to spend time in.
By working closely with the client throughout the process and remaining flexible to evolving ideas, the team delivered a kitchen that feels both timeless and completely personal.
Customer Review
The client was thrilled with the final result, leaving a glowing 5-star Trustpilot review:
“I had Craig as my fitter and what a great result. Very competent fitter and problem solver. He turned up promptly every day and cleaned up as he went. From a prompt response to my initial request to a thoroughly fun showroom visit, Passmore have done an outstanding job. Excellent ranges to choose from and well thought out solutions to what wasn't working for me in the existing kitchen. The new kitchen is worth every penny, and I wholeheartedly recommend More Kitchens & Passmore Group.”
