Contemporary Kitchen Refurbishment | Bradford | More Kitchens

Background

Mr & Mrs Priestley approached us wanting to modernise their kitchen, which felt dated, dark, and impractical. The existing layout featured tall units on either side, creating a top-heavy look and awkward storage.

Additionally, the adjacent breakfast room was underused, presenting an opportunity to reimagine the space. Working with Senior Designer Julie, the clients outlined their desire for a bright and streamlined contemporary kitchen with a dedicated utility area but were unsure how to achieve this transformation.

Problem

The kitchen's layout and design were no longer fit for purpose. The tall units restricted the flow and made the entrance feel narrow, while the inclusion of a washer and dryer in the kitchen reduced storage space. The room lacked effective lighting, further contributing to its dark and unwelcoming feel. Meanwhile, the breakfast room added little value to the overall functionality of the home.

Objective

The goal was to create a bright, contemporary kitchen with improved storage and a dedicated utility space in the breakfast room. The clients wanted a practical, low-maintenance design that maximized natural and artificial light while delivering a sleek and modern aesthetic. Senior Designer Julie worked closely with them to develop a kitchen design that met these needs while incorporating stylish yet practical finishes.

Kitchen Design

Julie’s design reimagined the layout to address the challenges and meet the clients' objectives. The tall units were consolidated onto one wall, opening up the entrance and creating a more balanced layout.

Gloss-finished cabinets in Grey Mist were selected to reflect light and brighten the space, paired with venato marbled worksurfaces and splashbacks to enhance the contemporary look.

Effective lighting was a priority. Julie specified LED ceiling lights and under-cabinet lighting to ensure the kitchen remained bright and welcoming throughout the day. Wall units were scribed to the ceiling, reducing cleaning needs and creating a seamless appearance. To further modernise the space, she recommended replacing the gas hob with a sleek induction hob. Full splashbacks replaced traditional tiles, eliminating grout lines and adding to the streamlined aesthetic.

The breakfast room was transformed into a utility area under Julie's direction, with the washer and dryer relocated and additional storage added. To unify the two spaces, balmoral slate LVT flooring was installed throughout, creating a cohesive and durable finish.

Kitchen Installation

Once the design was finalised, Project Manager Rob ensured the smooth delivery and execution of the project. Rob coordinated every aspect of the installation, keeping the clients informed at every stage.

The kitchen installation was undertaken by Multi-Skilled Fitter John, whose meticulous craftsmanship brought the vision to life.

John relocated the tall units to a single wall, creating an open and accessible layout. He installed the gloss-finish cabinets and reflective worksurfaces with precision, ensuring all elements aligned seamlessly.

The utility area in the former breakfast room was completed with additional storage and the same flooring as the kitchen for consistency. John also expertly installed the induction hob, LED lighting, and scribed wall units, paying attention to every detail to achieve the sleek, contemporary look the clients wanted.

Customer Review

The clients were thrilled with the results and shared the following review on TrustPilot:

"Had a new kitchen and utility fitted. Delighted with the outcome. Julie, the designer, and Rob, the project manager, gave us the outcome that we wanted and more. All those who contributed to the installation of the kitchen were hard workers, considerate, and kept us informed of progress. Last but not least, a big thank you to John, our fitter, for doing a superb job. Would highly recommend More Kitchens."

Outcome

The project delivered a bright, contemporary kitchen that exceeded the clients' expectations. Julie’s thoughtful design, Rob’s expert coordination, and John’s skilled craftsmanship transformed a dark, dated space into a welcoming and functional hub.

The redesigned layout improved the flow and functionality of the space, while the contemporary finishes and practical enhancements created a stylish yet low-maintenance kitchen. The new utility area added convenience and storage, completing the transformation into a home the clients now love.
