Small U-Shaped Kitchen Renovation | Pudsey | More Kitchens

Background

Ms. Duck had been delaying the replacement of her 25-year-old timber kitchen for several years, but when it finally reached the point where an update was essential, she turned to More Kitchens for the transformation.

Seeking a kitchen that was bright, easy to clean, and equipped with modern appliances and quality finishes. Ms Duck’s main goal was to create a streamlined space that offered the perfect blend of style and functionality.

Problem

The existing small kitchen felt dark and outdated, with an awkward, underused area next to the oven and an old gas hob. Ms. Duck wanted to maximize the natural light in the room, improve the flow, and create a modern look while optimizing storage and switching to an induction hob for a cleaner design.

Objective

Ms. Duck aimed for a sleek, cohesive kitchen design with minimal maintenance. She wanted a space that would be practical and organized, yet stylish and welcoming. Initially considering cooler grey tones, she eventually chose a warmer palette, aligning with her vision for a cosy yet modern space.

Kitchen Design

Senior Designer Julie worked closely with Ms. Duck, suggesting a gloss finish for the cabinetry to enhance light reflection and create a brighter, more open feel. To add a touch of luxury, Euphrates quartz worktops with matching upstands were chosen, allowing for a seamless undermount sink with integrated drainage grooves, offering more counter space and ease of cleaning.

Addressing the inefficient layout, Julie recommended relocating an integrated fridge freezer to the previously underused space next to the oven, grouping the tall units together and leaving the window area open to maximize light. Since the door from the hallway was rarely used and interrupted the kitchen flow, it was removed, and the entrance was plastered square for a clean finish.

Ms. Duck opted for a transition from gas to an induction hob, further emphasizing the streamlined look. Copper handles, taps, and splashbacks complemented the Kashmir gloss doors, while the subtle copper veins in the quartz surfaces brought the whole room together.

To ensure the kitchen was as functional as it was beautiful, Julie integrated corner pull-outs and wide, deep drawers for easy access while incorporating a U-shaped kitchen layout to utilise every inch of space. All units were scribed to the ceiling, eliminating any gaps and reducing cleaning tasks with the kitchen design and updated layout providing ample storage while maintaining a tidy and seamless appearance.

Kitchen Installation

Project managed by Rob, Ms Ducks full service kitchen renovation included a full rip-out of the old kitchen, updated electrical systems, new lighting, plumbing, and the removal of the gas line.

The kitchen installation, completed by multi-skilled fitter Craig, featured gloss Kashmir cabinetry, luxurious Euphrates quartz surfaces, and modern CDA appliances. Completing the look, LVT flooring in Astoria Oak was laid, adding warmth and durability to the newly revitalized space.

The result is a bright, modern, and streamlined kitchen that perfectly fits Ms. Duck vision—a space that is practical, aesthetically pleasing, easy to maintain but also serves as a stylish centrepiece in her home.

Client TrustPilot Review:

"I had been putting off replacing my 25-year-old kitchen for several years, but it reached the point where it had to be done, and I decided to place an order with Passmore. This has been one of my best decisions! From the very first contact, the process was handled in a totally professional manner.

Julie, the designer, really listened to what I wanted, answered all my questions, and called on her many years of experience to produce a design beyond anything I could have imagined. When it came to bringing that design to life, Craig, the installer, did an absolutely excellent job. He handled everything—electrics (which needed to be brought up to today's standard), plumbing, and installation of cabinets and all-new appliances. He worked quickly, professionally, and with great precision, keeping me informed of what was happening at every stage. Any (small) hiccups along the way were handled quickly and efficiently by Rob, the Project Manager, to keep the process running smoothly.

The result is a stylish and workable kitchen fit for the 21st century, at least for the next several years of it! Overall, my experience with the Passmore Group has been excellent and stress-free because of their professional, friendly approach. I would happily recommend them. Thank you, Passmore!"
