Accessible U Shaped Kitchen Case Study | Leeds | West Yorkshire

Published: 13 April 2022

A dated kitchen was transformed into an accessible kitchen with modern bespoke design features.

Wanting to make their kitchen more accessible whilst giving it a modern update Mr & Mrs Holmes booked a free design appointment for a More Kitchens Senior Designer to survey their kitchen , discuss design ideas and concepts and provide them with a provisional quote.

Visited by Senior Designer Nigel, Mr & Mrs Holmes discussed with him their design requirements including how they can update their kitchen to help make it accessible and comfortably be used by all.

Taking all of their requirements on board, Nigel used his extensive design and accessibility knowledge to create both a modern and safe accessible kitchen design that made best use of the available space.

The new spacious kitchen design consisted of a bespoke removable cabinet that provided the option to open up the area under the sink and stove to allow access for a wheel-chair user.

The cabinetry design consisted of contemporary matt dark blue doors that tied in beautifully with the dark grey kitchen worktops and a modern glass splashback.

To assist with accessible cooking an induction hob and slide and hide oven was installed.

The open kitchen space also provided enough space for a wheelchair to comfortably do a full circle.

I am very pleased with the end product. Martin the fitter went above and beyond to make sure that I had everything I needed, as I needed the kitchen to meet my disabilities. He was polite and a pleasure to have in our home. Would have him back anytime. Even with the pandemic the process from the first phone call to the end result went smoothly. In all, I am very pleased with Passmore and would recommend them to anyone who is thinking of a new kitchen.
